Our Story
Dust Bunnies, Inc. has its roots in my mother’s incredible journey. At age 19, she immigrated to the United States from West Africa, escaping the civil war. It was during this time of hardship she discovered her life’s passion-- helping others. Witnessing the devastating effects of the war on her community, she made the decision to become a nurse— a path that would not only define her career but also her sense of purpose. While working multiple full-time jobs to support herself through nursing school, she began offering cleaning services on the side to make ends meet. It was a small side gig, but it became critical when she had me and had to balance motherhood with her aspirations. There were times when those cleaning jobs were the only source of income to support our family. Over the years, as she completed her nursing degree and began her career at Park Nicollet-- the cleaning business still maintained quietly in the background with just a handful of accounts she gave to family members. She has now worked at Park Nicollet for over 20 years. Growing up in my environment—one where hard work and a commitment to others were at the heart of everything—instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and a passion for serving my community. After college, I decided to take the reins of my mother’s small cleaning business, seeing it not just as a way to continue what she had started, but as an opportunity to create something bigger. I worked to refine the systems, build a supportive culture, and establish the professionalism needed to take the business to the next level. Today, Dust Bunnies, Inc. is much more than a cleaning company. It’s a reflection of my mother’s legacy—a business built on the principles of hard work, care, and community. It’s a company that will grow with purpose and be passed down through generations, continuing the mission of helping and supporting those in need, just as my mother did all those years ago.
